WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) Chock Chapple may have found love on national TV, but on Saturday in Wichita, his heart belonged to the dogs, cats and even bunnies at the Kansas Humane Society.

The local animal shelter got a boost from “The Golden Bachelorette” winner as he stopped by to help raise awareness for animal adoption.

Chapple, an insurance executive from Wichita, won the heart of Joan Vassos on the show’s first season. At the event, he met fans, posed for photos, and talked about why he said “yes” to the invitation.

“I’ve been around dogs my whole life, so when they asked me to come I said absolutely,” Chapple said. “You can get great animals here dogs, cats, even bunnies. They do a lot of different things.”

The event, hosted by Floor Coverings International Metro Wichita, featured adoptable pets, shelter tours and a chance to learn more about the Humane Society’s work. Donations were accepted on-site, and the business pledged to cover some adoption fees.

As part of the event, Floor Coverings International Metro Wichita is also running a national contest to win a $10,000 pet-friendly flooring makeover. Entries can be submitted at fcifloors.com/win. The company is also covering the cost of local adoptions, up to 10% of a flooring project, for anyone who adopts from KHS in July or August.

Chapple, who grew up in Garden Plain, shared a story about a friend’s rescue dog. “His name is Cash, but we call him Cash Money. And he is the luckiest, most spoiled dog in the world,” he said with a grin.

He also took a moment to reflect on his unexpected reality TV journey.

“I look back and think, they picked the guy from Wichita, Kansas, which surprised me,” Chapple said. Then, speaking about the relationship that followed, he added, “Love does happen on reality TV. Who would have thought that? I would have thought ‘No way.’”

In a statement, Amy Schertz, owner of Floor Coverings International Metro Wichita, said the goal of the event was to put the spotlight on the Kansas Humane Society and the “incredible work” they do every day. “Having Chock Chapple join us just adds to the excitement and heart behind the cause.”
