HOUSTON — A man has been arrested for allegedly holding a woman against her will in a home for at least six months.

41-year-old Kenneth Leon Wright was charged with aggravated kidnapping and assault family violence, according to court documents.

Wright allegedly held a woman he was dating in a residence with the windows blocked for at least six months and abused her in a Houston home.

Court documents said the woman was hidden in a place where she was unlikely to be found.

Shenita Carter claimed that the woman was her sister.

“[It’s] disgusting, sad the fact that this is how she had been living,” Carter said.

Carter alleged that months would go by, and Wright would occasionally bring her sister around their family.

She said the most recent visit was at the beginning of this month. However, Carter claimed she never knew exactly where her sister lived.

“He would not give us the address,” Carter said. “He would only bring her to my mom’s house.”

Carter said things eventually escalated after she got a call from her sister alleging Wright was abusing her. She claimed her mother was able to track down the address and called in a welfare check.

Carter said she showed up after the police and got a look at the alleged conditions of the apartment. She said the front door locked from the outside and that her sister didn’t have a key to get out.

“The windows have nails on them,” Carter said.

ABC Houston affiliate KTRK spoke with a woman who answered the apartment door at the address listed on Wright’s court documents.

That woman said she was Wright’s current girlfriend and that he was taking care of the alleged victim and not holding her against her will.

Carter acknowledged that Wright was paying for her sister’s rent and for her food; however, she claimed he was also allegedly abusing her and locking her in the apartment as well.

Now that her sister is back with her, Carter said she’s focused on helping her move past this.

“I want her to know that I’m here for her,” Carter said.
