Shedeur Sanders, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, is the son of Deion Sanders and his ex-wife, Pilar Sanders. While his famous father has made many headlines over the years, Shedeur’s mother is the one highlighted in them now.

The quarterback played in a preseason game on Aug. 8. Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski said a lot of things Shedeur did on the field impressed him. Meanwhile, some fans were not so impressed with what Pilar wore to watch her son play after she shared videos of her attire before the game.

Some fans took issue with her outfit and behavior in the brief clips.

“I would be embarrassed if my 60-year-old mom was to conduct herself like that,” one commenter said.

“She didn’t do much but come on she is a mom. Don’t embarrass your kids. Don’t be doing the tongue thing and showing too much skin with your kids around,” a second person added. “Puts your kid in uncomfortable position if people are looking at their mom with lust rather than respect.”

Another criticized Pilar for taking attention away from Shadeur writing: “I’m a mother of 2 adult children and when the moment is THEIRS, I make it THEIRS.” Another user was thinking the same, posting: “Her son is super talented and we hope he shines. That said, is this his day, or hers? Don’t get the tongue thing. Seems inappropriate for the occasion.”

However, not everyone agrees with the criticism. One person fired back: “She looks amazing. Leave that woman alone. Why do you people always have to be so hateful and judgmental?”

Others joined in to compliment her. They encouraged Pilar, “Show the critics how you represent & support your own! Beautiful” with three fire emojis.

“Oh please, this is the outfit the blogs are talking about?? She looks absolutely fine and is in no way ‘inappropriately’ dressed. People wish they could look that good,” a fan chimed in. Another agreed, “She looks amazing! Don’t hate!!! Most people wished that they looked as well and felt well at 50, 55, and 60!!!”

A fourth person wrote: “They had a problem with your outfit???!!!! The way the media was cryin’ I thought you were out there with a provocative swimsuit!!! You look fine!! It’s just the haters and all the media outlets who like to s*** on Sheduer!!”

Another follower asked for some kindness, pleading: “Come on, ladies, let’s roll the criticizing back a bit. Just nicely asking. Everyone is living and walking on individual paths. Let’s give each other some grace.”

Deion and Pilar were married from 1999 to 2013. Along with Shadeur, the couple shares two other children, Shelomi and Shilo Sanders.
