Mom and Son Caught Trying to Flee Country After Deadly Street Racing Crash

A New York man and his mother have been arrested after allegedly trying to flee the country, following a fatal New Jersey crash.

On June 29, Alvi Limani, of Staten Island, allegedly crashed into a two other vehicles while speeding down New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway, at mile marker 130 southbound.

The 20-year-old’s BMW X3 SUV reportedly flipped over multiple times in what police are calling a street racing incident.

The crash ended in a fatality when Limani’s passenger, Albion Hysenaj, 20, flew out of the car and died at the scene.

DailyMail reports that another passenger was also ejected, then taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital “with serious injuries.”

Another passenger, reportedly identified as 19-year-old Emily Harrington, fled the scene on foot with Limani.

According to NBC South Florida, police arrested Limani and his mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, in Miami as they allegedly tried to flee the country. They were apprehended July 17.

Limani is facing charges that include:

  • Aggravated manslaughter (first-degree)
  • Vehicular homicide (second-degree)
  • Knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death (second-degree)
  • Causing death while driving with a suspended license (third-degree)
  • Two counts of endangering an injured victim (third-degree)
  • Two counts of endangering (third-degree)
  • Tampering with public records (third-degree)

 Vneshta has been charged with third-degree hindering.

Harrington is facing charges that include hindering (third degree), obstruction (fourth-degree), and conspiracy to endanger another (fourth-degree).

Another driver, Jeter Ogando, 23, who had allegedly been racing in a BMW M5, is facing charges that include vehicular homicide (second-degree), assault by auto (fourth-degree), and endangering (third-degree).

Limani and Vneshta are being held in Miami on out-of-state warrants while awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.
