Hot with late-day storms through the weekend

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — It’s a dry start to the day with a lot of sunshine. Temperatures will warm up quickly with highs near 94°. Feels like temperatures will be up to 105° this afternoon.

Rain chances will increase after lunch time to a 60% late this afternoon and evening for widespread showers and thunderstorms. Storms diminish tonight and it will be dry through Wednesday morning with low temperatures in the upper 70s.

Decreasing rain chances are in the forecast for the rest of the week with just a 30 to 40% chance each afternoon. Temperatures warm up though, and the focus will be high temperatures near 95 degrees with feels like temperatures up to 110° through the weekend.

Tropical storm Erin continues to quickly move west through the central Atlantic. This is forecast to be the first hurricane and possibly major hurricane of the season.

It will move into a more favorable environment by Friday and Saturday and continue to strengthen. Most forecast models turn Aaron North before reaching the United States but it is still 8 to 10 days out with time for changes.
