Police and Perisher Ski Resort management this evening confirmed the death of a 22-year-old man at the Snowy Mountains ski area, about 20 kilometres west of Jindabyne.

Perisher said the man died at the scene following a “snowboarding incident” on advanced terrain at the Front Valley terrain park.

“Perisher Ski Resort, Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” Perisher vice president and general manager Nathan Butterworth said.

Emergency services were called to the crash about 2.30pm today and paramedics tried to save the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On its website, the resort says the “world-class and critically” slopestyle terrain park in Front Valley is home to “all the biggest jumps and rails in the resort”.

“Every season, this park attracts and challenges professional athletes from all over the world due to its constantly evolving features,” it says.
