Was Live with Kelly and Mark new today?

After two weeks of guest hosts, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos returned to our screens, though both Monday’s (Aug. 11) and Tuesday’s episodes were previously recorded.

Monday’s installment featured a brand new host chat, and welcomed Geena Davis and Seth MacFarlane for sit-down interviews. While Tuesday’s episode kicked off with a new host chat, the episode included previously aired interviews with Liam Hemsworth, Edie Falco, and Tyler James Williams.

Last week, a production source informed DECIDER that Ripa had taken a couple days off for her summer break, and would be back on Aug. 11. In her place, Jackie Tohn, Jenna Dewan, Rita Ora, Elle Duncan, and Katie Lowes stepped in to co-host with Consuelos.

The week prior, Ripa was joined by guest co-hosts Jerry O’Connell, David Muir, Carson Kressley, and Steve Patterson while Consuelos was working on a show in L.A.

Regarding when Live with Kelly and Mark will return from its summer break, DECIDER reached out to Live for more information.

Consuelos recently spoke with DECIDER about his and Ripa’s new ESPN docuseries, Running with the Wolves, which is now streaming on ESPN+. The four-part series, which DECIDER contributor Scott Hines encouraged prospective viewers to stream, was a project that was “personal” to Consuelos, one that he was “super passionate” about, the Live with Kelly and Mark co-host told us.

“So if it was something that I wasn’t really so invested in, it would probably seem a little strange. But I think the aspect that it was something I was truly, truly passionate about felt organic to me,” he explained. “Kelly’s [laughs], I wouldn’t say… her maybe lack of understanding of like, ‘Why are you spending so much time doing this?’ — you’ll see that in the docuseries — is completely natural and nothing’s recreated for that at all. She’s definitely scratching her head like, ‘Why are we so invested in this?’ And my complete investment in it, I think, is expressed in a really, really natural way through this docuseries.”
