FORT STEWART, Ga. () — Sgt. Quornelius Radford, the man accused of shooting and wounding five soldiers at Fort Stewart on Aug. 6, appeared in military court Tuesday and was ordered to pretrial confinement.

According to Patrick Donahue of the Coastal Courier, victims of the shooting spoke at the hearing, recommending Radford be kept to confinement.

Radford faces six specifications of attempted murder and two three-specification counts of aggravated assault of offenses under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Radford did not give a statement.

According to TheLaw.com Dictionary, in military law, specifications “are the clear and particular description of the charges preferred against a person accused of a military offense.”

The soldier who remains hospitalized spoke by phone and said, “I do hope he gets the help he needs, whatever that is.”

The Army has not released any of the victims’ names.

“I think he’s a danger to himself. I think he’s a danger to others,” said another victim.

Another victim said, “I hold no hatred in my heart. I refuse to let resentment or anger control me. That being said, I believe he remains a danger to himself and to others.”

Attorneys for the Army said that Radford said he was targeting unit leadership when interviewed by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Radford allegedly failed to reveal a DUI in May and is believed to be a flight risk if not in confinement.
