Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead on a footpath near Brisbane this morning.

A resident found the body of 29-year-old Trevor Doyle in a ditch between the footpath and the street in Slacks Creek, Logan, about 7am.

Detectives believe Doyle may have been meeting someone in Reserve Park off Gunungai Drive about 12 hours before his body was found with visible injuries.

“The movements of this gentleman leading up to his death are a little bit vague, they are the subject of ongoing investigations,” Detective Inspector Chris Knight said.

“There are visible injuries observed by our officers that certainly allow us to treat this as a homicide and unexplained suspicious death.”

Police have cordoned off the park, where a large crime scene has been established.

Dozens of forensic officers, detectives and SES personnel were seen going through nearby bins and doorknocking local homes today as they searched for items of interest and potential witnesses.

Locals have described the park as a safe area with a childrens’ playground, frequented by families.

“We’ve been in this house for 18 years, this is the first time something like this has happened,” a local resident told 9News.
