Justin Henderson, 36, was sentenced on charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence for the murder of Quintasha Ross, who was 26 years old.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Tuesday after changing his plea of not guilty to guilty in the murder of a woman in Jacksonville’s Brentwood area, court records show.

Justin Henderson, 36, was sentenced on charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence for the murder of Quintasha Ross, who was 26 years old. He had an abuse of a dead body charge dropped as part of the plea deal.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said on June 16, 2024, officers responded to West 41st Street after a witness complained of a foul odor coming from a home on the street. The witness told police she became concerned when Ross had not contacted her in two weeks, Henderson’s arrest report states.

Officers then searched the home, where they made contact with Henderson, but did not observe anyone else inside the residence or notice any foul odor. According to the report, Henderson said he had not seen Ross in a few weeks. His relationship to Ross is described as an “acquaintance” in the report.

Family members of Ross also raised concerns with police, as the house was searched again a day later, the report states.

JSO’s homicide and missing persons units later responded and found Ross’ body. The case was then ruled as a homicide, according to the report.

Henderson was given credit for 420 days of time served at his sentencing.
