Troy Taylor

Troy Taylor (Hamilton County Jail).

An Ohio man is facing multiple assault charges after he allegedly failed to disclose his HIV-positive status to his sexual partners.

According to cops in Colerain Township, a suburb of Cincinnati, the investigation began on May 1 when they received a report that 37-year-old Troy Taylor “knowingly engaged in sexual activity with the victim without disclosing his HIV-positive status.” Detectives began investigating and arrested Taylor on July 14 on a charge of second-degree felonious assault.

Taylor posted bond but investigators learned that there were more alleged victims. As a result Taylor was indicted on additional charges of felonious assault on July 23. According to the indictment, the offenses occurred between June 2023 and March of this year. With the help of the United States Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Task Force, officers arrested Taylor on Aug. 6.

Authorities citied the Ohio Revised Code Section 2903.11(B)(1), which states:

(B) No person, with knowledge that the person has tested positive as a carrier of a virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, shall knowingly do any of the following:

(1) Engage in sexual conduct with another person without disclosing that knowledge to the other person prior to engaging in the sexual conduct

According to the Center for HIV Law & Policy, Ohio is one of five states, along with Arkansas, Louisiana, South Dakota and Washington state, that may require registration on the Sex Offense Registry as part of the punishment for a conviction.

He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail, where he remains on a $100,000 bond. It”s unclear if he has obtained an attorney.

Anyone with information, or who believes they may be a victim, please contact the Colerain Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Unit at (513) 321-2677.
