Venus Williams has conquered the tennis court and championed equality, now, she’s being celebrated in a whole new way. The Grand Slam champion is the latest trailblazer to be immortalized in Mattel’s Barbie’s Inspiring Women Series, a collection honoring women who have broken barriers and redefined their fields.

Williams, who famously fought for pay equity in professional tennis, made history in 2007 when she helped secure equal prize money for women at top-level tournaments. That same year, she claimed her fifth Grand Slam title, a victory that now serves as the inspiration for her very own Barbie.

Mattel worked closely with Williams to create a doll that reflects both her signature style and a pivotal moment in her career. The Venus Williams Barbie wears the same crisp white tennis outfit she sported at the 2007 championship, complete with a green gem necklace, wristband, tennis racket, and ball. The doll retails for $38 and will be available on Mattel Shop beginning August 15, 2025.

Krista Berger, senior vice president of Barbie and global head of dolls at Mattel, praised Williams’ legacy in a statement, “Barbie proudly welcomes tennis legend Venus Williams to our Inspiring Women series. A trailblazer both on and off the court, Venus has redefined what it means to be a champion, not just through her Grand Slam titles, but through her fearless advocacy for pay equity. Her unwavering fight for equal prize money in professional tennis forever changed the game, paving the way for future generations to dream bigger. Venus is a shining example of courage, resilience, and empowerment, and we are honored to celebrate her remarkable legacy.”

For Williams, the recognition goes far beyond the tennis court. “Being honored as a Barbie Inspiring Woman is incredibly special,” she shared in a statement. “I hope this doll encourages young people to dream big, know their worth, and pursue their goals with confidence and heart.”
