Kanye 'Ye' West's Comments About Still Loving Kim Kardashian Look Different After Documentary Trailer

Kanye “Ye” West and Kim Kardashian’s marriage was one of pop culture’s most high-profile unions. The pair wed in a lavish 2014 ceremony in Florence, Italy, after a whirlwind romance and the birth of their first daughter, North. Together, they welcomed four children and often presented a united front at events, from the Met Gala to political rallies. But behind the glamorous public appearances, tensions, fueled by Ye’s controversial statements, public outbursts, and differing lifestyle priorities, grew. By early 2021, Kim filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Now, in light of Ye’s new documentary, In Whose Name?, we’re taking a look back at what Ye said about always loving Kardashian.

Kanye ‘Ye’ West once said he’d always love Kim Kardashian

Kanye “Ye” West and Kim Kardashian’s marriage began as a fairytale pairing of two cultural powerhouses. However, over time, the pressures of fame, creative ambition, and personal differences began to erode their bond. Initially inseparable and openly affectionate, the couple’s relationship weathered public controversies, Ye’s mental health struggles, and the strain of balancing their growing family with demanding careers. By late 2020, cracks in their partnership became impossible to ignore, with the two spending increasing amounts of time apart. Kardashian ultimately decided to file for divorce in February 2021, framing the split as a difficult but necessary step for her well-being and stability for their children. Though the process was often shadowed by public speculation and Kanye’s attempts to reconcile, they eventually reached a divorce settlement in late 2022, agreeing to joint custody.

In 2023, Ye spoke on Piers Morgan Uncensored about Kardashian. Piers Morgan asked Ye whether he was still in love with Kardashian despite their divorce.

“I absolutely love — I’ll love her for life,” Ye answered. “Oddly enough, I’ll actually protect her. Because when I call out things that I feel are wrong, you know what I’m saying?”

Morgan asked Ye whether he would like to get back together with Kardashian. To that, Ye answered, “Those thirst traps still be fire.”

Kim Kardashian is heard crying in Kanye ‘Ye’ West’s new documentary, ‘In Whose Name?’

Kanye “Ye” West’s new documentary, In Whose Name?, offers a raw, unobstructed window into six tumultuous years of his life. Crafted from over 3,000 hours of footage shot by 18-year-old director Nico Ballesteros, Ye has been collecting footage since 2019. The newly released trailer, which dropped August 13, features emotionally charged confrontations, including a tearful Kim Kardashian. The film spans deeply personal and public moments and delves into his mental health journey, where he rejects medication as a creative threat and later asserts he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and actually has autism.

“I’m off my meds for five months now,” Ye says in the trailer.

In another clip, Kardashian can be heard tearfully saying, “Your personality was not like this a few years ago.”

In yet another clip, Ye and Kardashian are arguing. “Never tell me I’m gonna wake up one day and have nothing,” Ye yells.

“We can talk about that later, but …,” Kardashian continues.

“It ain’t no ‘but,’” Ye yells back, cutting her off.

The new clips from the trailer, combined with Ye’s past comments about still loving Kardashian, make us wonder just how emotionally charged the couple’s divorce was.

A source previously alleged that the reality star was nervous about her ex’s documentary

An insider previously told In Touch Weekly that Kim Kardashian worried about what Kanye “Ye” West was willing to put in his documentary, In Whose Name?.

“Kanye’s relationship with Kim and her family is not good, and while she tries to keep the peace with him, they’ve had arguments over the phone that could end up being used in the doc,” the source alleged. “And he doesn’t care about being popular or liked or politically correct.”

We look forward to seeing Ye’s documentary and whether Kardashian comments on it.
