Birmingham Police Department requesting help identifying attempted murder suspect

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an attempted murder suspect.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shell gas station in the 400 block of Oporto-Madrid Boulevard North on a report of a person shot. Officers observed a juvenile male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside the store. The BPD says the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

According to the BPD, the suspect entered the gas station and made a statement towards the victim before exiting. Then, the suspect re-entered the store, fired shots and fled the scene.

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the BPD’s Felony Assault Detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
