A fire has torn through two Brisbane businesses on the city’s northside after a suspected firebombing.

The fire tore through popular local cafe Brisbean Coffee and the neighbouring plant shop I Wet My Plants in Alderley around midnight.

Lachlan Elliot from Queensland Fire and Rescue said firefighters were called to a fire at the back of a gift shop on South Pine Road.

“We were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 50 minutes,” he said.

Customers arriving early for their Sunday morning coffee fix were shocked and devastated by the damage.

Brisbean Coffee owner Andy Ford told 9News the impact was catastrophic.

While the cafe has significant smoke damage, they’ve also lost countless kilos of coffee beans but they’re ready to rebuild and reopen as soon as possible.

Investigators spent the morning combing through the crime scene, shovelling coffee cups and sifting through the damage to find answers.

Before the businesses went up in flames, suspicious activity was caught on camera.

Multiple people can be seen loitering around the shopfronts, while one particular car returns to the scene of the crime at least three times.

The firebugs remain on the run.
