AUGUSTA, Ga () – Sunday marks National Thrift Shop Day, and Goodwill is celebrating with a week of thrifting activities across the CSRA.

Goodwill of Middle Georgia and CSRA is encouraging customers to participate in a Thrift Week Passport Challenge, offering a chance to win a $100 gift card by shopping at various stores.

“We really want to celebrate our shoppers and thank them for coming into our stores,” said Haley Wesley, Associate Vice President for Marketing and Brand Awareness at Goodwill. “By shopping here, they make a huge difference in our community.”

Goodwill is the largest workforce development nonprofit in the region, transforming donated goods into career services. This initiative not only supports the community but also helps keep over 14 million pounds of goods out of landfills.

Haley Wesley emphasizes the importance of donating clothes, shoes, and household items, as it provides shoppers with unique treasures and gives items a second life. “It also provides shoppers something to find and find those unique treasures, it gives things a second chance and a second life which also gives people a second chance and a second life,” she said.

The Thrift Week Passport Challenge runs through Saturday, August 24th, allowing participants to collect stickers from different Goodwill stores. Wesley fondly recalls her childhood experiences of thrift shopping and hopes others will enjoy the thrill of finding new treasures.

“I am so excited for our shoppers to have this opportunity to do something fun so we can celebrate them where they can go to each store, collect fun stickers, they can find unique items at every store, find their treasures just like I used to go thrift shopping with my grandpa, I’m hoping that they find all the treasures that I remember finding growing up,” said Wesley.

The Thrift Week Passport Challenge offers a fun and rewarding way for shoppers to engage with Goodwill, supporting both the environment and local workforce development initiatives.

It ends on Saturday, August 24th.
