Code Red: Newsom Moves Closer to Gutting Voter Power

It’s no secret that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to set himself up for a run for president in 2028.

His latest effort to get attention on the national stage is truly lame, even for him. His team has been trying to imitate President Donald Trump’s tweet style from their press office X account, but they can’t quite master it. What it shows is that even there, he can’t communicate in his style or with his accomplishments – all he can do is try to imitate Trump, badly. Even in that, Trump is living rent-free in his mind, since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

My colleague Bob Hoge termed it the “endless thirsty ‘look at me!'” posts. After all the “No Kings” attacks from the left on Trump, which were dumb to begin with, here’s what the Newsom team posted.

Then the Press Office used AI images of Kid Rock, a big supporter of President Trump, in memes to look as though he was supporting Newsom. Does Newsom not have any real supporters? He even has to try to appropriate Trump supporters.

But Newsom stepped in it big time when he attacked Fox’s Trace Gallagher. Gallagher then skewered the ridiculous Newsom’s effort, big time, on his “Common Sense” segment.

Newsom’s press office referred to him as “bird-brain Trey Gallagher.” Gallagher got under his skin when he called the Newsom imitation of Trump “childish” and “unbecoming.” So, he does know who Gallagher is, or he wouldn’t be so bothered by the comments, and he wouldn’t be responding.

“Newsom thinks his mock style is clever,” Gallagher said. “Common Sense thinks it would be more clever if he obsessed less on Trump and more on California. He is, after all, the Governor. At least when he’s not an influencer. Or a podcaster.”

Exactly! You know, that job that he’s supposed to have?

Gallagher continued, briefly describing the Golden State’s downfall using pop culture references. “The Mamas and Papas would never be caught ‘California Dreamin’ today,” he said. “Beverly Hillbillies” sixty years ago depicted California as the “place you oughta be” – but now “the trucks are going in the opposite direction,” as people flee to other states, many to red states. He mentioned the hamburger chain In-N-Out leaving the state for Tennessee, though the company will still have a portion of its headquarters and hundreds of restaurants in California.
