A man and a teenage boy who are accused in the shooting death of the 7-year-old, which happened in January, have now pleaded guilty.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man and a teenage boy accused in the murder of Jacksonville 7-year-old Breon Allen have pleaded guilty, according to Duval County court documents.

Zharod Sykes and 17-year-old Tavaris Kelly are both charged with second-degree murder.

They are two of six people who have been arrested in connection with the shooting. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says Kelly was one of the shooters.

The shooting happened on Jan. 24 in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Almeda Street on the city’s Westside. Police said multiple shooters ambushed 21-year-old Lafayette Mango and Breon. Mango was injured, and Breon was killed.

Sykes, along with four of the others who were arrested, was identified as a member of 6Block, a notorious Jacksonville gang that was affiliated with the now-deceased rapper Foolio.

“It was a targeted, planned act of bloodshed,” Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said of the shooting.

Sykes will be in court on Oct. 1. His sentencing date has not yet been set.

Kelly will be in court on Aug. 21, and his sentencing date has also not been set.
