A New Hampshire mother killed her husband and two of her children earlier this week before turning the gun she used on herself.

Authorites said a toddler was not physically harmed and is now with family, WMUR reported.

Investigators said the Emily Long, 34; Ryan Long, 48; 8-year-old son Parker, and 6-year-old daughter Ryan were found dead Monday evening at their home in Madbury.

“We are having gunfire, and that these events occurred during a short time period at 5:30 in the morning. It’s not until 8:20 (p.m.) that there are individuals who try to make contact with people and end up calling 911,” said Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati.

Autopsy results revealed that the two children died from gunshot wounds to the head. Ryan Long suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and his wife had one shot to the head. The medical examiner ruled the deaths of the kids and the father homicides. The mother’s death was a suicide. They were all pronounced dead at the scene.

Agati cautioned against speculating on a single cause for the incident.

“Some that involved the idea of what was going on with the money situation, with the health situation, I think the big thing is to not speculate one reason why something like this would happen,” Agati said. “Homicide and suicide is usually much, much more complex than just one reason.”

According to Foster’s Daily Democrat, Emily Long had shared her family’s struggles in a series of TikTok videos beginning in April She discussed Ryan Long’s diagnosis with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. In her videos, she discussed being overwhelmed by changes since the diagnoses and she felt herself “withering away” and discussed her fears about being a single parent once her husband died. She even acknowledged needing help, saying she hoped she could bring herself to seek it before it was “too late.”

Agati noted that people in crisis can call, text, or chat the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in New Hampshire at 988. They can also text the Crisis Text Line by sending TALK to 741741.
