LOS ANGELES — The Beatles are opening the vault once again. What started as a groundbreaking documentary series is now an even richer experience with the return of “The Beatles Anthology.”

First released in 1995, the original “Anthology” series changed the game. It wasn’t just a documentary it was a front-row seat to the Beatles’ story, told entirely in their own voices.

Packed with rare footage, candid interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments, it offered an intimate look into the band’s meteoric rise and the bond they shared.

Now, nearly 30 years later, the story gets a brand-new chapter. A ninth episode, just added, features previously unseen footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr reuniting in the mid-’90s to reflect on their journey and collaborate on the original project.

Restored by Peter Jackson’s Wingnut Films and Apple Corps, with remastering from Giles Martin, this isn’t just a touch-up, it’s the definitive version of “The Beatles Anthology,” brought to life in stunning clarity for a new generation.

Alongside the series, the “Anthology” music collection is getting a major upgrade. The newly added “Anthology 4” album includes 36 tracks, 13 of them never released before, made up of early demos, rare session recordings, and fan-favorite outtakes from past deluxe editions.

Also making a triumphant return are tracks “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love.” Originally crafted in the ’90s by Paul, George, and Ringo using John Lennon’s demo tapes, both titles have been remixed for 2025 by producer Jeff Lynne, featuring enhanced de-mixed vocals from Lennon himself.

They’re accompanied by the song “Now and Then,” which was first released in 2023 when McCartney and Starr worked with director Peter Jackson to restore a John Lennon vocal track using A.I.

Jackson had previously employed the technology for his 2021 documentary “The Beatles: Get Back.”

Curated and remastered by Giles Martin, the full music collection arrives November 21 as a deluxe 8-CD and 12-LP box set, as well as in digital and streaming formats.

“The Beatles Anthology” book also makes a return. Coming October 14 in a softcover edition for its 25th anniversary, the book features the original 2000 content: rich photos and first-hand stories straight from the Fab Four themselves.

You can pre-order “The Anthology Collection” (2025 Edition) now, which includes newly remastered Anthology volumes 1-3 and the debut of Anthology 4.

“The Beatles Anthology” documentary series begins streaming exclusively on Disney+ on November 26.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
