Six inmates charged after May Southwest Virginia prison stabbing

WISE, Va. (WJHL) — Six gang-affiliated inmates were charged with a total of 66 counts of felony criminal charges on Wednesday after a May 2 incident at Wallens Ridge State Prison.

The inmates allegedly stabbed two Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) correctional officers multiple times, and a third officer was assaulted. VADOC Director Chad Dotson said in total, five officers were involved.

According to a news release from the Wise County and City of Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, the six inmates, with charges, are listed below:

Melvin Edgardo Molina-Ramos, 28, was charged with the following:

  • Attempted Aggravated Murder (2 counts)
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob (2 counts)
  • Gang Participation
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner (2 counts)
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)
  • Possession of Illegal Weapon by Prisoner

Jeremiah Larenz Mouzon, 26, was charged with the following:

  • Attempted Aggravated Murder (3 counts)
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob (3 counts)
  • Gang Participation
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner (3 counts)
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)
  • Possession of Illegal Weapon by Prisoner

Moises Alejandro Alfaro Olivia, 41, was charged with the following:

  • Gang Participation
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner (2 counts)
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)

Armando Dagobert Reyes Reyes, 33, was charged with the following:

  • Gang Participation
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)

Christian Rene Reyes-Coreas, 30, was charged with the following:

  • Gang Participation
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob (2 counts)
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)

Kevin Josue Soto-Bonilla, 28, was charged with the following:

  • Attempted Aggravated Murder (2 counts)
  • Malicious Wounding by Mob (2 counts)
  • Gang Participation
  • Bodily Injury by Prisoner (2 counts)
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Malicious Wounding (3 counts)
  • Possession of Illegal Weapon by Prisoner

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares also announced that his office is assisting with
the prosecution.

Dotson said all five officers involved in the “heinous attack” were discharged by May 8.
