GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating allegations that a now-former West Greene High School teacher stole funds.

The TBI provided News Channel 11 with a statement on Thursday, saying agents were investigating a former Greene County Schools employee who had allegedly stolen money from an organization.

According to the TBI, the employee had stolen from the Tennessee Association of Agricultural Educators.

Interim Director of Greene County Schools Christopher Malone confirmed the employee was an agriculture teacher at West Greene High School, but did not provide any further identification.

Malone said the former teacher resigned on Aug. 13 shortly after being placed on leave.

Malone also noted that, to his knowledge, no school funds were embezzled.
