Clay County deputies arrested Sherry Garrison, 54, after they say she shot into the victims’ home where an adult and six children were present following the dispute.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A dispute over dogs led to a shooting in a Clay County neighborhood Friday morning, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said at approximately 7 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 5600 block of Bee Hive Road after receiving a call that a neighbor was shooting at the caller’s home.

When deputies arrived, CCSO said they immediately took 54-year-old Sherry Garrison into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Garrison “resisted deputies’ efforts to take her into custody and fought with them during her arrest.”

CCSO said its investigation revealed that a dispute between Garrison and one of the victims turned physical when Garrison pushed one of them.

Afterward, CCSO said Garrison walked back towards her home, while one of the victims warned her not to return and shot a gun into the ground on their own property as “warning shots.”

According to CCSO, Garrison then walked into her home, retrieved her gun, walked back outside, and shot several times in the direction of two victims in their yard.

CCSO further told First Coast News that Garrison also shot into the victims’ home where an adult and six children were present.

No one was injured in the incident, CCSO said.

According to CCSO, Garrison faces two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, one count of resisting law enforcement with violence and one count of simple battery.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call CCSO at 904-264-6512 or use the Safer Watch app.
