LOS ANGELES — In a galaxy full of heroes, “Andor” proves that the rebels behind the scenes steal the show.

The second and final season of the “Star Wars” adventure is lighting up the Emmy race as one of 2025’s top contenders.

“Andor” racked up an impressive 14 nominations, including a shot at one of the night’s biggest prizes, Outstanding Drama Series, a category it was also nominated for in its acclaimed first season.

The show’s craftsmanship shines through nominations for writing, directing and cinematography, to name a few.

Fan favorites also earned recognition. Forest Whitaker is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for his performance as Saw Gerrera. Alan Tudyk is nominated for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for bringing Cassian Andor’s robot sidekick, K-2SO to life.

Behind the scenes, Luke Hull’s production design and Michael Wilkinson’s costume work helped set the galaxy’s tone. They are both Emmy nominees as well.

Meanwhile, the visual effects wizards at Industrial Light & Magic earned praise for their stellar work. They also earned an Emmy nod.

“To do a show on that scale about rebellion, revolution, oppression, fascism, authoritarianism, colonialism, I mean all these things that I’ve been reading about and really interested in my whole life, it almost felt a little bit like a responsibility to really, if you’re going to do it you should really go for it, you should talk about all of it,” said the show’s creator and showrunner, Tony Gilroy.

Lucasfilm’s galaxy of stories earned even more acclaim.

The “Star Wars” series, “The Acolyte” earned a nomination for sound editing.

The documentary “Music By John Williams” is nominated for sound editing and sound mixing.

“Andor,” “The Acolyte” and “Music By John Williams” are all streaming on Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
