Nataliia Richardson, 32, is an office assistant, baker and a contestant on The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) 2025. Born in Ukraine, Nataliia was taught to bake by her grandmother, following traditional recipes that have been handed down through the generations.
She loves to use these recipes to this day and also infuses classic British bakes with flavours inspired by her roots such as honey, poppy seeds and spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. An economics graduate with an artistic streak, Nataliia loves painting, running, and countryside walks with her Ukrainian rescue dog Aria.

Bake Off’s Nataliia Richardson is married to Harry Richardson. Nataliia and her husband, Harry, moved to the UK just before the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in February 2022. Her family followed shortly after as refugees and they now all live in East Yorkshire with their daughter, Francesca.

Ukraine-born Nataliia Richardson is a contestant on the 16th series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. The bakers of GBBO 2025 will be competing against each other in the famous baking tent, under the watchful eyes of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
Nataliia wrote on Instagram: “’m beyond excited (and a little nervous!) to finally share that I’ll be a contestant on The Great British Bake Off – Series 16. It’s an honour to be the first Ukrainian baker in the tent, and I can’t wait to share this adventure with you all — let’s bake, laugh, and enjoy it together each week.”
It was Nataliia Richardson’s husband, Harry, who secretly signed her up to Bake Off without telling her. She said: “When he told me that the Bake Off team wanted to speak to me, I was – to put it mildly – shocked. We were at home, and it was the most unexpected phone call.”
Speaking about walking into the tent for the first time, she said it was “unbelievable” and “like walking into a film you’ve watched hundreds of times”. She added: “It was so interesting to see how everything is set up and to experience the same emotions that all the incredible bakers before me must have felt.”
