HANCOCK COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — District Attorney General Dan Armstrong’s office has requested an investigation into reports of an incident involving an officer from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Armstrong said.

Armstrong received a call around noon on Sunday saying that there had been an incident involving an HCSO officer Saturday night into Sunday morning, the DAG said. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told 6 News that they were investigating the circumstances leading to an assault at the request of Armstrong.

The TBI said that an off-duty deputy was present at the incident, but the people directly involved in the assault are not deputies.

“That incident was under investigation at the time, and at that time, no charges had been placed,” Armstrong said Monday morning. “I have not been updated since.”

Armstrong said he could not comment any further.
