Man arrested after allegedly killing stepfather, wounding mother in Jasper shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A man was arrested in Jasper and charged with murder after allegedly killing his stepfather and critically injuring his mother in a shooting Tuesday morning.

Nathaniel Anderson, 42, was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder after a shooting was reported at a home on Devon Drive in Jasper. According to police, officers found Carol Minor, 70, running out of the home and claiming she had been shot. She told police that her husband, Ronald Minor, had been shot dead in the home.

Following the shooting, police asked for local schools in the area to be put on lockdown as they searched for the shooter. After receiving a warrant to search the house, police found Anderson alive in the home.

Carol Minor has been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No motive has been established in the shooting.

Anderson is currently being held at the Walker County Jail.
