Tom Sandoval Reacts To His AGT Elimination

Former Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval’s time has officially come to an end on America’s Got Talent. Tom and his band were eliminated from the reality TV competition this past week, and now Tom has spoken out about his experience.

While Tom was deemed the clear villain of Vanderpump Rules after cheating on his partner, AGT seemed to offer a spark of hope for him. So how is he feeling now that he’s graced the stage for the final time?

Tom Agreed His Performance Was Weak

In the most recent episode, Tom and his band performed a cover of The Weeknd’s song “Blinding Lights” to lukewarm reviews. After their name wasn’t called, they realized they wouldn’t be moving into the semi-finals.

Tom admitted that it wasn’t his strongest work in the competition, largely in part due to some tech issues:

I definitely could have been better. I was worried a little bit more about the movement and whatever, and with the inner-ear, I should have focused a little bit more on the vocals.

“It’s a competition. We’re trying to set ourselves apart, so going out there and just singing versus singing, dancing, getting the crowd going, moving around,” he went on to add. “I was trying to do more.”

Simon Had Some Tough Love For Tom

When it came to the judging, it was Simon who delivered the harsh feedback. Like Tom, he noted that the sound of the performance felt off, and he didn’t seem it strong enough to move on to the next week.

The vocals weren’t great Tom, I’m gonna be honest with you. However, not everyone comes on this show to get a record deal. Sometimes, it’s about being true to who you are.

Despite the tough words, it seems like Simon wasn’t critiquing Tom and his group overall, but rather the particularly weak performance they gave that week. Simon was sure to clarify that he was talking about the individual performance instead of their overall skill.

“I like Tom and I like the band,” Simon said. “However, you’re judging this performance, and it didn’t sound great. It didn’t. It might just be me from where I sat, but it didn’t sound good, I’m afraid.”

This isn’t to say that Tom and his band’s musical future is over. For his part, judge Howie Mandell said he could easily see them providing entertainment for others. “I think people who are watching will want you to play their weddings,” Howie noted. “Their parties, their clubs. You’re good people having a fun time, and that’s what this show is all about.”
