SAVANNAH, Ga. () — By now, the news of Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce has made headlines around the world. Visit Savannah did not hesitate to reach out to the power couple, letting them know the Hostess City would be the perfect place to tie the knot.

The engagement announcement featured pictures of the embracing duo and Swift’s 8-carat engagement ring, along with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married!”

Immediately after the announcement was posted to the superstar’s Instagram, Visit Savannah sent out an invitation to them to get married in the Coastal Empire.

reached out to Visit Savannah president and CEO Joseph Marinelli and, while their post was clever, he says there is plenty of truth to it.

“We have it all here,” Marinelli said. “We have arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world with a built-in honeymoon destination right down the road at Tybee. And we have a community that’s used to having celebrities and VIPs amongst us filming movies and television shows all the time.”

Visit Tybee also got in on the pre-wedding planning with this post:

When asked what it would mean to the city of Savannah if Swift and Kelce choose to marry here, Marinelli good-naturedly turned the question around.

“I think we have to look at it the other way,” Marinelli said with a smile. “What would it mean to Miss Swift and Mr. Kelsey to say that they’re having their event in Savannah? I mean, everybody already knows about Savannah! Everybody has either been here and wants to come back or we’re a bucket list city for them.”

While Swift and Kelce have plenty of time to plan their nuptials, they wouldn’t be the first celebrity wedding to happen in the Coastal Empire. In August of 2022, Jennifer Lopez married Ben Affleck on his private estate in Riceboro, Ga. The A-list guest list included Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel and David Fincher.

In September 1996, John F. Kennedy, Jr. married Caroline Bessette off the coast of Georgia on Cumberland Island.

Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda Home for Boys was the location for the 2009 wedding of actress/singer Mandy Moore and singer Ryan Adams. In 2004, Bethesda was also the site of celebrity chef Paula Deen’s wedding to retired tugboat captain Michael Groover.
