TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Most writers know it’s common to draw from real-life experiences, and one children’s author from East Texas is doing just that, spreading a message of kindness through her words.

Children’s author Kylie Wright is younger than most published writers. At just 11 years old, she’s already accomplished more than what most dream of becoming: a published author.

“I’ve always loved writing, like even since I was little, I just love writing stories,” Wright said.

Through her writing, she’s raising awareness of Tourette’s Syndrome.”I’ve had Tourette’s for as long as I can remember. I started having them when I was three,” Wright said.

Pushing out a message of kindness after she experienced bullying in school. Instead of responding with mean words to the mean kids, she took her emotions to paper and started writing her first book.

“Next thing I know, she brings me this, and we were on like page four, like she’d already written like four pages,” Kylie’s Mother, Brandi Kreger, said. “I said, Kylie, this is good, this is really good, you need to finish this.”

Finish it she did, her book ‘My Sparkle’s Still Bright’ was then published on Aug. 15.

“It’s about a little girl named Emma who has Tourette syndrome, and she was being bullied for it,” Wright said. “So she would go home, and mama would tell her, Don’t let anyone dim your sparkle, so she didn’t.”

Wright isn’t stopping there with plans for more books in the future. Mature beyond her years, Kylie is stressing the message ‘You’re beautiful just the way you are’.

“Your difference is what makes you so special, and to not let anyone dim your sparkle,” Wright said.
