GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alex Dixon Boatwright, 34, was arrested yesterday on 22 child pornography charges.

On November 5, 2024, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTip from Google that included 60 videos and two images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The CSAM content was uploaded to an account with the name “Alex Boatwright” between June 2021 and October 2024 and was still on the account’s Google Drive as of the date of the CyberTip. Google provided eight upload IP addresses, the date of birth provided when the account was created, the phone number associated with the account, two email addresses, and numerous login IP addresses. Gainesville Police Department investigated the CyberTip.

A subpoena to Cox produced a physical address associated with the eight upload addresses, a home in Gainesville that belongs to a relative of Boatwright’s. A subpoena to Verizon produced the device and IMEI associated with the phone number — a Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G. A subpoena to Microsoft for one of the email addresses produced Alex Boatwright’s name, the same billing address provided by Cox, and a birthdate that swapped the month and day with Boatwright’s birthdate.

A subpoena to Google produced Alex Boatwright’s name, a different year but the same month and day for the birthdate associated with the account, and the phone number provided with the CyberTip. Google also provided the device used to access the account — a Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G. The contents of the account reportedly included over 500 images/videos of Boatwright, including photos of his genitals; pictures of his registered vehicle; and pictures of his Florida driver’s license and COVID vaccination card. Google also reportedly provided at least 20 additional CSAM images/videos that hadn’t previously been reported, including one involving sexual activity between a pubescent juvenile female and a dog.

On August 27, officers executed a search warrant at the address provided by Cox, and contact was made with Boatwright and the family members living at the address.

Post Miranda, Boatwright reportedly confirmed his phone number and said he has used a Galaxy S21 Ultra phone since March but previously used a Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G phone, which was reportedly found in his bedroom.

Boatwright reportedly said he knew why the police were there and knew “what it was related to,… a former email that got locked out.” He said he had “no interest in this, like, what the category, what it was saying, I was, like, no, not me, type of thing.”

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G phone reportedly matched the IMEI provided by Verizon, and the phone was logged into the email account provided in the CyberTip.

A relative at the house reportedly said Boatwright had accidentally downloaded the material while looking at other pornography.

Boatwright has been charged with 22 counts of possession of child pornography. The 22 videos mostly show pre-pubescent females being raped by adult males, but four of them show toddlers being raped by adult males. One of the videos reportedly showed a pre-pubescent female that the GPD detective had previously interviewed in an unrelated investigation, and the detective reported that the girl said she was 12 years old when the video was created.

Boatwright has no local criminal history. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $550,000.
