PHILADELPHIA — It was absolutely electric at Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia Thursday night, as the entire cast of Abbott Elementary did something they’ve never done before!

They filmed the show during a live event, and boy did they choose the perfect Phillies game to roll those cameras.

Action News’ Alicia Vitarelli was there as Hollywood descended upon South Philly.

From Quinta Brunson to Sheryl Lee Ralph, to Lisa Ann Walter, all of the stars of Abbott Elementary were embedded in the stands at Citizens Bank Park.

They sat in Section 114, row 29, blending right in with Phillies fans for an epic game.

The cast has been in town all week, filming at the ballpark.

Ahead of Thursday night’s TV feat, creator, star, show runner and West Philly native Quinta Brunson talked about this massive undertaking.

“It’s going to be cool,” Brunson says. “It’s also going to be a big triumph for our show to pull off. This isn’t easy to do. We have an incredible crew. They’re putting this together. It takes really hard work. We have to be so efficient to get this done. We’re just excited to get the opportunity to do more things that are kind of unseen in television.”

“Very rarely does in get done in TV, ” adds Tyler James Williams, who plays “Gregory Eddie.” “To be at a game on Thursday and then see it a few weeks later on TV? Amazing.”

“It’s like, ‘Hey Mommy, I’m on TV,” laughed Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays “Barbara Howard.”

There were real cameras and real crews amidst Philly’s real fans!

“Believe me, if they didn’t like the show, because it’s Philly, they would let us know,” laughed Lisa Ann Walter, who plays “Melissa Schemmenti.” “They’d be like: ‘You suck!’ But I have a feeling that we’re not going to get that.”

“I’m kind of hoping we get one, one ‘You suck,'” laughed Chris Perfetti, who plays “Jacob Hill.” “That would be really fun.”

“Yeah, but if that happens, I’d throw down,” Walter adds. “I’d throw down.”

There was not a boo to be a heard in the stands!

And what a game for the Phillies! It was almost as if the team, and Kyle Schwarber, showed off for Hollywood!

You can catch this episode when season 5 of Abbott Elementary premieres on October 1, on 6abc.
