Bethenny Frankel Reveals Why She Sold All Her Hermès Bags, Says Real Housewives Has Become a “Flex” of Luxury Bags, and Calls Out Haters in Viral Rant

Bethenny Frankel revealed why she sold all her Hermès bags, and she claimed that Real Housewives has become a “flex” of designer products. The Real Housewives of New York alum also called out people who “hate” her.

In recent years, Bethenny has accused Bravo of mistreating its stars in a movement she called a “Reality Reckoning.” Though some celebrities praised her efforts, many fans questioned Bethenny’s motives.

“Why did I sell all my Hermès bags?” asked Bethenny in an Instagram video. “So when I look through this app, I’ll see girls that make it their entire personality, very young girls, like way too young to be wearing a $15,000 bag … The bags are wearing these people.”

“I remember this from years ago … Lauren Conrad and the other girls [from Laguna Beach or The Hills] were in these giant Chanel bags, like they were like bigger than them. And it was their entire personality. So you know that Chanel was cringing … It wasn’t something that accentuated their outfit. It became bigger than them. And then it’s a flex. And that’s what The Housewives has definitely become.”

Bethenny suggested that she “participated in that” during her stint on the show, but people are now “turned off” by it.

“That’s what’s happening with the people that really all wore Hermès collectors. Other people barged in and wanted to be part of it, but it became their entire identity. And so that is why I sold those bags and why even with Chanel … it’s just become too much of sort of a flex,” she said. “I’ve bought $40 bags that I’m happier with than any of the luxury bags … There’s no shortage [of the luxury bags]. It’s just a scam.”

In another video, Bethenny addressed her critics on social media.

“People really hate me. Why do I know that? Because someone will post something nice about me and those trolls will come in and go crazy to get mad,” she said. “So people like me or hate me. People that hate me love to hate me … or you used to love me and you’re moving towards hating me. Or you used to hate me [but not anymore]. Everyone’s always in some state of transition. Polarizing.”

“Usually, the people doing the commenting and the hating … [they’re] on the bottom,” she said. “You’re welcome.”
