TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A new national study ranked Tampa second among the fastest-growing economies in mid-sized cities across the U.S. between 2019 and 2023.
The study, conducted by CoworkingCafe, measured U.S. cities that saw steady growth driven by rising incomes and job opportunities, business activity, infrastructure upgrades, and population.
The report also categorized cities by size, finding that in just four years, goods and services produced in Tampa jumped 43%, showcasing its economic growth as one of the fastest compared to other cities in its category.
Additionally, the study found that unemployment in Tampa is down by 2% and Tampa residents are earning more, with the average paycheck growing 38%.
“These results confirm what we already know – Tampa is on the rise,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “Our city is growing stronger every day, from creating good-paying jobs to attracting global investment. Tampa is proving to be one of the best places to live, work, and build a future.”
St. Petersburg also made the list, ranking #4 among mid-sized cities, as well as Clearwater at #6 among small cities, marking the Tampa Bay region as one of the top performers in the entire country.
