Educating Yorkshire returns to our TV screens 12 years after the first series stole the nation’s hearts.Matthew Burton, who featured as a popular English teacher in the first series, is now the headteacher of Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury.The show follows Thornhill’s 900 students in Yorkshire through their academic year, following various storylines as they deal with behaviour, exams, and all that school can throw at them.The first Educating Yorkshire series produced one of the most emotional moments in TV, when pupil Musharaf Asghar overcame his stammer thanks to Mr Burton’s tactic of speaking to music. The new series is set to challenge more modern issues, such as students’ screen time, the use of AI in the classroom, and vaping.With the first episode set to air on Channel 4 at 8pm this evening, this live blog will keep all Educating Yorkshire fans bang up to date.
