Good Evening!

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Sunshine popped out and Sunday ended up being quite the nice one across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.

Temperatures maxed out in the mid-80s for a lot of us while winds were breezy at times, with gusts occasionally in excess of 20 mph. Rain chances amounted to a few passing showers.

Labor Day will be about as nice as you can find it here. Temperatures will start in the 60s, and will climb into the mid-80s under plenty of sunshine.

There is a 20% chance of passing showers but dry time will dominate. Winds will continue to be breezy at 10-15 mph, with higher gusts possible along the coast.

At the beaches, there will be a high risk of rip currents due to the strong winds offshore. Surf will be breaking at 3-4 feet. On our waters, Small Craft Advisory is in effect until Tuesday morning.

High pressure will be the main feature in the weather pattern this week. Rain chances are only expected Wednesday and Thursday as a front moves through the region, but that is only amounting to around 20% at this time.

A slow change is expected through the week. Temperatures will warm to average by the end of the week with 70s in the mornings and 90s in the afternoons.

The tropics feature no changes as of Sunday evening. A tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa has a 30% chance of developing into a depression or named storm over the next week.

Guidance has shifted the wave’s track to the south slightly. But, the overall environment across the Tropical Atlantic only supports very slow development.

There are currently no tropical threats for the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
