Viewers of The 1% Club branded one question on tonight’s episode as “terrible”, primarily because they believed the answer was incorrect.

Presented by comedian Lee Mack, the ITV programme follows 100 contestants whose numbers are steadily reduced as they attempt to tackle 15 logic-based questions.

As each question advances, the difficulty increases, starting with a question that 90% of respondents managed to answer correctly.

Following each round, the challenge levels ramp up significantly, with participants confronting questions that progressively fewer of those surveyed answered accurately.

This culminates in a final, exceptionally challenging question that merely 1% are expected to get right, reports the Liverpool Echo.

It was Saturday’s (30th August) 20% question which sparked heated debate amongst home viewers.

The question displayed a photograph from which the contestants had to determine which prominent UK figure this rhyming code represented. The image featured a deer and a llama which allegedly rhymed with Keir Starmer.

Nevertheless, not everyone was in agreement.

Jean remarked “That doesn’t rhyme, Llama does not rhyme with Starmer. Terrible question” – with two others concurring, stating “not even close”, and “nope not at all”.

Another tweet declared: “But that doesn’t even make sense”. Sharing a comparable view, Linda questioned: “How does that rhyme at all?”

This follows the “hardest question ever” broadcast on the programme during last week’s episode.

It was a “10% question” that has earned recognition as the “hardest” in the show’s history. In 2023, this challenging puzzle caused seven contestants to exit the programme, whilst three others only progressed to the subsequent round by using their passes.

The question, which appeared on the Australian edition of the programme, reads: “Edna’s birthday is on the sixth of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘?’ of January.”

Participants are allocated 30 seconds to determine their responses, with viewers at home encouraged to participate and attempt to reach the coveted “1% club”.

Despite this birthday-themed puzzle not being a 1% question, it nevertheless baffled 90% of those surveyed.

It also sparked considerable discussion amongst the programme’s enthusiasts, which has consistently attracted a devoted audience since its launch in April 2022.
