CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Carter County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested a Stoney Creek man on Thursday morning after he allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse material to social media.
According to a news release from the CCSO, investigators received two cyber tips in June 2025. Those tips came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and centered around the alleged uploading of child sex abuse materials.
Investigators reportedly identified the email address associated with the social media accounts and traced it to an Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Jeffrey Edwards, 49, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the IP address was traced back to him.
Edwards was taken to the Carter County Detention Center on Thursday morning, and the CCSO stated he is being held without bond until he is arraigned due to a prior criminal history.
“I am proud of the diligence of our investigators in tracking down and arresting those who commit crimes against children,” Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said in the release.
