City of Augusta issues paving, closure notice to motorists for St. Sebastian Way area

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Residents driving near or in the St. Sebastian Way area need to be aware of some alerts that may have an impact on your travel time. This is a part of the improvements for the Broad Street Infrastructure.

According to the notice from traffic engineering, paving will begin on the closed portion of Broad Street between 15th Street and St. Sebastian Way on Tuesday, September 2nd, and the paving is expected to take approximately one week with that section of the roadway re-opening to through traffic on Monday, September 8th, weather permitting.

The notice also states that on Monday, September 8th, the full road closure and detour will shift to the next block, which is Broad Street between St. Sebastian Way and 13th Street, and that block will be closed to all traffic, with detours directing motorists around the closure.

The work in this section is expected to continue for several months, officials say that motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the area, and they are strongly
encourages the use of alternate routes to avoid congestion.
