Senate District 15 covers all of northwest Orange County down to State Road 408 in Ocoee and extends south to Sand Lake Road. It includes parts of Winter Garden, Oakland, Pine Hills, MetroWest, College Park, Holden Heights, Parramore, Holden Heights and the Oak Ridge area.

The seat was held by the late state Sen. Geraldine Thompson, who died in February after complications from knee replacement surgery.

Democratic State Rep. Bracy Davis will face Republican Willie J. Montague in the special general election.

Bracy Davis represented Florida House District 40 until she resigned to run for Thompson’s seat. Davis is an attorney who worked for the Florida Department of Children and Families and is an advocate for arts and cultural programs.

Montague is a nonprofit founder and community advocate who has run for office before.

In the House race, RaShon Young, Bracy Davis’ chief of staff, won the Democratic primary and will face Republican engineer Tuan Le and write-in candidate Chris Hall on Sept. 2.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters seeking information about polling locations or how to cast a ballot can visit the supervisor of elections’ website.

If you have a vote-by-mail ballot for the races, it must be turned in to the Orange County supervisor of elections office by 7 p.m.
