Fraser Olender shaded Kyle Stillie for “mak[ing] rumors up” about a hookup with a married charter guest, as it could have gotten him “fired.” The Below Deck star also addressed breaking the fourth wall, and he revealed that he thought it was a “set up.”
Last season, Fraser took heat from fans for seemingly throwing Chef Anthony Iracane under the bus to Captain Kerry Titheradge, who fired him. On the new season, Kyle suggested on a night out that Fraser threw him under the bus over Kyle’s story that he hooked up with a married charter guest (which Kyle later retracted). After the confrontation, Fraser stormed off and told cameras to leave him alone.
On Entertainment Tonight, Fraser addressed Kyle’s story.
“If you’re going to make rumors up about yourself, at least make them better,” said Fraser. “Like, that will get you fired. So that was odd for me.”
Fraser hinted at why he broke the fourth wall and told cameras to leave.
“I thought I was being set up,” he said. “At that time, the previous [season] was airing. And I was going through a lot with social media. And I felt very villainized again. I don’t know. I was just tired of people. I was tired of being labeled as the bad guy when I don’t think I deserve that.”
“People like to come for me. I’ve always had it,” he went on. “It’s just not going anywhere it seems. But yeah, I was just like, I just needed a break. I needed to sort of focus on why he was acting this way. And still to this day, I don’t know why he said the things he said.”
Back in June, Fraser teased Kyle’s drama.
“What is a hard no is potentially engaging in something whilst their married significant other is also around,” said Fraser to Us Weekly, alluding to the fact that the charter guest was feet away from her husband when she allegedly got intimate with Kyle. (Again, Kyle later retracted this story.)
He continued, “It was definitely [the most explosive thing I have been a part of]. Because this situation then was the catalyst of so many other problems … And this really did spiral into something that no one saw coming. So it’s the beginning of the end.”
