SBS has unveiled its line-up for 2026, combining the biggest global events with daring homegrown storytelling across its distinctive multi-platform networks.
From the FIFA World Cup 2026 to fearless documentaries, bold new Australian drama, and food that connects cultures, SBS continues to grow and tell stories that reflect the Australia of today while connecting with the world.
SBS will remain a popular destination for food programming, while NITV will continue to elevate First Nations stories with a strong line-up of content that speaks to the heart and strength of community.
SBS acting managing director Jane Palfreyman said 2026 will be “our biggest year ever”.

“We’re delivering a bold content slate that’s proudly diverse and deeply engaging from global formats to bold, original storytelling that Australians won’t find anywhere else,” Palfreyman said on Wednesday.

Alone Australia heads to the Arctic

The spectacular and intimidating wilds of the Arctic Circle are the new setting for the fourth season of smash-hit survival series Alone Australia.

In 2026, 10 new participants head to the Northern Hemisphere winter where subzero temperatures, deep snows, frozen lakes and icy forests await. Contestants will have to rely on their wits and ingenuity to be the last person standing and take home the $250,000 prize.

The first season of the survival reality show dropped contestants in the Tasmanian wilderness, while the second season moved across the Tasman to New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park. After the third season returned to Tasmania, Alone Australia is taking on its most ambitious and intimidating location yet.

Sporting events that stop the world

The single largest sporting event in the world, the FIFA World Cup, will be shown exclusively on SBS. Next year, the Cup heads to Canada, Mexico, and the USA for a record-breaking 104 matches, all screened on SBS with world-class commentary from a trusted team of football experts.
As the exclusive broadcaster of the FIFA World Cup 2026, SBS will deliver over 550 hours of coverage, including every match live in HD, replays, and exclusive pitch-side crosses.

SBS is also excited to announce exclusive access to the Tour de France Femmes through to 2030. As Australia’s undisputed home of cycling, SBS will once again deliver the world’s most iconic cycling events free and live to all Australians.

Documentaries that shift the conversation

SBS will continue to push the envelope with documentaries that tackle some of our biggest and most provocative questions. Three-part series The People vs Robodebt spotlights the people who took on a powerful system in one of Australia’s darkest chapters in recent history.

Shut Your Big Fat Mouth John Safran will see the author and documentarian take on the heated topic of censorship.

Meanwhile, two popular series will return for their second season:

  • The Hospital: In the Deep End
  • The Jury
SBS will also continue to bring audiences premium international drama, unveil two new ambitious original SBS dramas and champion unmissable, bold and unapologetic Blak stories with NITV.
