Social media influencer Rolling Ray dies at 28

Social media influencer Raymond Harper, better known as “Rolling Ray,” has died two days before his birthday, his mother confirmed to TMZ. He was 28.  

A Facebook post attributed to Shazola Nay announced the news.  

“It is with a heavy heavy heart that I let you know that my son Ray Ray (@Iamrollingray) has gone home to be with the Lord,” the post reads. “I thank everyone who has called or texted, this is going to be a long road…”

Nay added, “Please pray for us as we push forward to lay him to rest.” 

Zeus Network, on which Harper appeared in several shows, also confirmed the news in an Instagram post.  

“Gone way too soon. #RestInPeace to the BIG hearted, most Raw, & #Zeus Star #RaymondHarper aka @iamrollingray,” the network wrote.

Harper, who suffered from a disability and was bound to a wheelchair, was a noticeable presence on social media, having amassed nearly 450,000 followers on Instagram.  

The Washington, D.C.-based influencer used his platform to advocate for people with disabilities and was a presence in social justice movements, including Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.  

In addition to appearing on Zeus Network shows, Harper also appeared on an episode of “Divorce Court.”  

Fans pay tribute to Rolling Ray  

Details of his death are unknown, but tributes have poured in online.  

Rapper Cardi B wrote on social platform X, “Rolling Ray was a menace lmaoo… but he changed soo much and became so positive. I know that soul made it to heaven…You will truly be missed BIG PURRRR!!!”  

“Rolling Ray was on the front lines in that damn wheelchair. We were dealing with Covid, police brutality, protests, riots, and Rolling Ray was FRONT AND CENTER. RIP,” one social media user wrote.
