Sheriff Mike Chitwood says the driver will be charged with multiple felonies.

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A man was arrested on Wednesday after a high-speed chase in Port Orange resulted in a P.I.T. maneuver by the Volusia Sheriff.

In a post to Facebook, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office states that the man, Christian Will Ottinot, 24, had fled from the Port Orange Police Department. It is unclear at this time what led to the initial contact.

Police say that Ottinot had “swerved through traffic, ran red lights and hit 118 mph up and down I-95”.

After passing the Williamson Blvd. overpass on I-95 north, Sheriff Mike Chitwood had joined the chase and executed a P.I.T. (Precision Immobilization Technique) on Ottinot’s vehicle, where he was subsequently arrested.

Sheriff Chitwood says that he hopes that when a judge reviews this case and sees the involved officer’s bodycam, it will “put a compelling picture together” against Ottinot.

Otinott is charged with fleeing from law enforcement, reckless driving, and a “Florida Super Speeder” violation.
