U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed concern over shifting global alliances, saying the United States has “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China.”

He made the statement on his Truth Social platform early Friday, September 5, 2025, alongside a photo of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together,” Trump wrote.

The comments come after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held earlier this week in Tianjin, China.

The SCO, originally formed to counter U.S. influence in Central Asia, has grown in strategic importance, particularly amid ongoing tensions over the Russian war in Ukraine and global trade disputes.

Earlier this week, Trump accused China, Russia, and North Korea of conspiring against the United States following a military parade in Beijing marking 80 years since the end of World War II.

He highlighted the sacrifices of American soldiers who fought in China, urging that their bravery be remembered while expressing concern over current U.S.-China relations.
