PALMETTO, Fla. (WFLA) — Multiple people in areas throughout Manatee County caught a glimpse of a waterspout just as the sun was setting Friday evening.

The waterspout formed as a round of thunderstorms moved through the area. Viewers began sending in photos and videos just before 8 p.m.

One viewer said he was on the fifth floor of a building in Palmetto when he shot video of the waterspout spinning just beyond Terra Ceia Bay. The clouds were beginning to clear, and the sun was starting to drop below the horizon, creating a golden glow in the sky.
