Trump critic Bruce Springsteen and stony faced celebs watch US Open final after POTUS triumphantly greets crowd

President Donald Trump was far from the only famous face at Sunday’s US Open men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Trump was back in his native Queens at the invitation of Swiss watchmaker Rolex, a tournament sponsor with its own suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium, where he was joined by Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, son-in-law, Jared Kushner and granddaughter Arabella Kushner.

Although Trump’s presence at the final was divisive among fans, many of whom were delayed entering due to the increased security at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the other celebrities in attendance seemed not to notice POTUS in the Rolex suite.

In June, Springsteen told fans on his European Land of Hope & Dreams Tour that Trump was a ‘moron’ whom he blamed for an ‘American tragedy.’

Trump responded by referring to the legendary musician as the ‘Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen.’

Another Trump critic on hand was Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry, who was joined by his wife Ayesha. Curry and his teammates were famously disinvited from visiting the White House after winning an NBA title in 2017 after Trump was upset that they hesitated to accept his invitation.

Several more NBA stars were on hand, including New York Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby, Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George and Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma.

And speaking of the Knicks, New York superfan Ben Stiller attended Sunday’s match with his wife and former Hey Dude star, Christine Taylor.

Other major celebrity sports fans in attendance included Michael J. Fox, Jerry Seinfeld, Al Roker, Jon Hamm and long-time US Open fixtures, Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart and Danny DeVito.

Trump received both boos and cheers when he was seen on the jumbotron, although television audiences may not have heard any reactions.

On the eve of the final, the USTA sent out an email to broadcasters, such as ESPN and Sky Sports, saying: ‘With respect to Broadcast Coverage, the President will be shown on the World Feed and the Ashe Court Feed during the opening anthem ceremony.

‘We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity.’

Spanish star Alcaraz has already spoken about Trump’s plans to watch the final.

‘It is a privilege for the tournaments having the president from every country… to support the tournament, to support tennis, and to support the match,’ he initially told reporters when quizzed about Trump after his win over Novak Djokovic.

‘For me, playing in front of him… to be honest, I will try not to think about it. I don’t want… to be nervous because of it.

‘But I think… it’s great for tennis to have the president into the final.’
