BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Two pedestrians were struck and killed by a vehicle in Brevard County on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened on North Courtenay Parkway and Grove Boulevard in Merritt Island around 8 p.m.

According to the FHP, preliminary evidence shows that a 1991 Lincoln Town Car was traveling south on North Courtenay Parkway, south of Grove Boulevard in the outside lane.

Two pedestrians, a man and a woman, were walking west and entered the direct path of the Town Car not in a marked crosswalk. As a result, the vehicle struck both pedestrians, according to the FHP.

Troopers said both pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Town Car, a 26-year-old man from Rockledge and a 3-year-old passenger, were not injured and remained at the scene.

Both directions of North Courtenay Parkway are currently closed.

The crash remains under investigation.
