Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are front and center on the October cover of Vogue.

For the striking shoot, the longtime friends rocked contrasting looks as the reality star, 29, wore a structured plaid coat and Hadid, 30, donned a bold patchwork dress.

Inside the issue, the two open up about the bond that’s carried them through the highs and lows of modeling and life. 

Hadid even recalls a tender moment from 2020, when she was newly pregnant and quietly confided in Jenner during a hectic backstage at Burberry.

‘You were one of the only people in the world that knew,’ Hadid said, explaining that Jenner was the one she turned to when she felt faint and needed a quick boost. ‘And Kenny was the only person I could look at from across the room and just be like, “Oh yeah, a soda.” And she got me a little can of Coke.’

That small gesture, Hadid noted, reflects the quiet trust between them that goes beyond the runway and magazine covers.

Marc Jacobs, who first cast Jenner in 2014, told the publication: ‘I think of them as part of the same moment in fashion. There was a hunger for the supermodel thing we knew from the past… and with Kendall and Gigi, they had this fresh enthusiasm.’

Jeremy Scott, who memorably worked with both, added: ‘They’re really good on their own, but better together. I think of them like my salt and pepper shakers.’

 He also recalled seeing Hadid adjust Jenner’s collar before a chaotic Moschino show in 2017: ‘All this chaos is going on. It’s pandemonium, and both of them are so calm and centering to each other.’

Simon Porte Jacquemus, who cast them in his viral Versailles show last year, says it best: ‘Two of the top supermodels of our generation and they’re just two friends having fun and being cuckoo like 12-year-olds.’ 

Jenner, who knew Hadid through her younger sister Bella, admitted she was initially ‘intimidated’ by Gigi’s beauty. 

‘I was like, “She’s so gorgeous.” And I remember you posted this photo with your long blond mane. I think it was a black-and-white photo,’ Jenner confessed. 

‘I had acne and braces. And, I remember seeing this photo and being like, “What the f**k?”‘ 

‘I was awkward too!’ Gigi insisted.

The two trace their closeness back to their teens, bunking together on early modeling trips. 

‘I was your biggest fan,’ Kendall gushed. ‘And once we started to work together and do shows, I remember those early seasons—we would do the whole month together.’ 

Hadid added that she’ll never forget her first Chanel fitting in 2014, when Jenner helped calm her nerves before meeting Karl Lagerfeld in Paris.

Still, Hadid mused that they are always ‘in relationships at different times.’ 

‘We did have a double date situation once,’ Jenner pointed out. ‘Remember, a long time ago? We don’t need to go there.’

After Hadid admitted she forgot about that, Jenner attempted to jog her memory. 

‘It’ll come to you. It wasn’t a double date. You tried to set me up. You were in a relationship and I was single and you were trying to set me up with someone to be part of your gang?’ she reminded her pal. ‘Do you not remember? Are you not picking up what I’m putting down? I’m not going any further. I’ll tell you later!’

When asked agbout the last time they cried in front of each other, Jenner answered: ‘Probably so long ago… Definitely not recently.’

‘It’s mostly when we’ve gone through boy stuff and we’re kind of at the end of that road. I feel like we’re both really strong people and not whiners and complainers, but we’re vulnerable when it’s the time to be,’ Hadid explained. 

‘There is a lot of superficiality in the world that we work and live in,’ Jenner added. ‘And our personal lives have been of public interest as we’ve gotten older.’ 

While speaking about navigating fame, Gigi points out there is ‘so much [of her life] that isn’t shared online.’ 

‘I think of so many of the quiet moments that no one sees,’ Hadid told Jenner. ‘People don’t know a lot of the ways that we’re similar and the ways we find peace in each other.’
