URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — An issue with an order at an Urbana McDonald’s led to an aggravated battery, police said. They’re now asking for help through Crime Stoppers in identifying the person responsible.
The crime occurred on Aug. 29 at the restaurant on North Cunningham Avenue. Officials stated that around 8 p.m., a customer became irate after staff were unable to locate his online order.
“When an employee attempted to assist, the suspect forcibly grabbed the food from him, spilling it, and then threw a drink on the employee before fleeing the scene,” officials said.
The Urbana Police Department and Crime Stoppers provided an image of the suspect, taken from security camera footage. He is described as a Black male in his mid-30s, approximately 5′ 6″ to 5′ 9″ and 170 pounds. He had braids in his hair styled in a bun, and he was wearing black glasses, a gray long-sleeved shirt and black pants. Police said the order placed at McDonald’s was under the name “Velly.”
